Bring Your Own Designated Device (BYODD) Laptop Program

At Yarrabing, we place a high value on developing digital literacy skills in our students. We aim to equip them with the ability to effectively utilise new technologies for discovering information, transferring data, analysing content, reviewing material, creating projects, and communicating ideas. To support these learning goals, we provide school-wide Wi-Fi and have established a technology-rich learning environment.

All students are required to use a Windows laptop to interact with our Learning Management System, COGS, and to access the full functionality of the Department of Education’s Google Workspace for Education. This allows students to fully engage with our interactive learning experiences.

We have partnered with Learning with Technologies (LWT) to provide you with access to the Yarrabing Secondary College Portal – LWT (https://yarrabingsc.orderportal.com.au).  Here, you can explore laptop options that we have identified as durable and meeting the specifications necessary for longevity of use.

We strongly recommend that you purchase a device through our portal because these devices have been tested to work with our network, come fully loaded with required software and are managed by our IT management system which keeps all software and security up to date.

Note: If a student leaves the school, and they own an LWT device, the device will have to be wiped and reset to factory defaults to remove the Department of Education Management Tenant. We are a Google Education school, and so students should always save a backup of their files to their Google Drive, ensuring when the device is wiped that they do not lose any important files.
